Dr Adrian Hunt, MBBS MbiomedE FRANZCO - Dr Hunt gained his MBBS in 1995 from the University of Sydney based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Within five years he had also earned a Master of Biomedical Engineering from the University of NSW. While investigating a rare paediatric condition at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, he developed a strong interest in retinal research. This inspired Dr Hunt to train in general ophthalmology at the Sydney Eye Hospital, becoming a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in 2006. With his new qualifications Dr Hunt returned to Westmead Hospital in 2007 to work with the esteemed Professor Paul Mitchell as Retinal Fellow in association with the Westmead Millenium Institute and Centre for Vision Research. Their pioneering work focused on management of AMD, diabetic and other vascular retinopathies, and on systemic diseases and their effects on the eye. For all his professional accomplishments, Dr Hunt never forgot where he came from. In September, 2009, The Shire native brought his high standards of care home to people of this area, opening Eye Surgeons Miranda and equipping it with the finest ophthalmological instruments available. Today, Dr Hunt takes time away from this practice to help train future ophthalmologists at Westmead Hospital and also provide expertise in medical retina, macular degeneration and retinal vascular disease at Eye Associates, an internationally recognised eye-care centre in Macquarie Street, Sydney. (So, in essence, when you come to Eye Surgeons Miranda, you will be seen by a Macquarie Street specialist.) Dr Hunt is married with four young children plus two dachshunds. When he's being Adrian (or Daddy) rather than Dr Hunt, he really enjoys taking his kids to Shelly Beach ocean pool and walking on the esplanade. His favourite places include Lilli Lilli Point, Deeban Spit, Wanda Beach and South West Arm. |
